Horses In Need

These days, there are horses in need around every corner.  We are doing our best to take part in being a solution to the problems that we see every day.

Kota's Cookies is a small horse cookie company owned by Leslie- it was built on a foundation of passion for a very specific group of horses and named after her own LaKota Moon.  Leslie recently found that "Kota's" original breeder was in dire need and all of the horses on the property were suffering.  These horses' and their owner's circumstances weighed heavily on her heart and she was determined to find a way to help.  It's a "long story made short", but that's how Kota's Cookies was born. 

A portion of the proceeds of EVERY bag of cookies is used to directly impact the needs of horses that have been starved or neglected. 

We have recently been very blessed to be a part of a rescue operation near Oroville, California.  Leslie has spearheaded a grassroots campaign to save Kota's relatives and we've since spent countless hours driving, grooming, making hay runs, vaccinating & worming horses that we wouldn't have otherwise ever known. 

Some of these horses have gone on to new homes with a brighter future ahead of them.  Some of them are still waiting.

None of it would have been possible if it were not for the MASSIVE support and encouragement coming from the universal cowgirl community (and there were a few cowboys that have donated, too!)  THIS is what the cowgirl spirit is all about- sticking together, gritting out the tough times.
